1 C shortening
1 3/4 C sugar
4 egg yolks
6 2/3 C flour
3/4 C cocoa
1 1/2 C milk
1 1/2 C chopped walnuts
3/4 C raisins
1 orange rind grated
1 tsp. orange juice
2 tsp. vanilla
3 tsp. baking powder
Powdered sugar, milk, butter for glaze

Beat sugar and shortening until well blended. Add egg yolks, milk, orange rind, juice and vanilla and blend well.Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Add to the wet mixture and beat well. Fold in nuts and raisins. Roll into 1 inch balls and place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment. Bake at 350º for about 10-12 minutes. Firm to the touch, and lightly brown on the bottom. Do not over bake, or they will be dry.
Glaze: 1-2 C powdered sugar, 5 T of warm milk, and 2 tsp. of butter - Combine until there are no lumps of powdered sugar. Add more milk if too thick. When the cookies are cool, dip the tops into the glaze and allow to set.
