1 c. vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1½ c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. prunes (cooked and cut up)
1 c. broken walnuts
Glaze:
½ c. buttermilk
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
¼ c. butter
1 tsp. dark Karo© syrup
½ tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Using a mixer, blend sugar and oil. Add eggs one at a time, blending well. In separate bowl, sift together, nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon, salt, baking soda and flour. Add dry ingredients to sugar mixture alternately with buttermilk. Add vanilla and prunes. Mix well. Fold in nuts. Pour into a greased and floured 9"X13" pan. Bake at 300º for 60 minutes.
Glaze:
Combine all ingredients in a fairly large saucepan (it foams and may boil over). Cook slowly until sauce is amber in color.

Pour sauce over cake while both are still warm. Spread evenly.
