"The tradition of Italian cooking is that of the matriarch. This is the cooking of grandma. She didn't waste time thinking too much about the celery. She got the best celery she could and then she dealt with it."--Mario Batali

Chicken Soup
When the sneezaroos have got'cha
and your head feels like a drum...
when your body's got the 'chizzels'
and you just don't know how come...
Time to snuggle in your jammies
Crayon-color, rest in bed
drink some juice, slip on your lambies
keep that pillow 'neath your head...
Take it easy, suck a coughdrop
pull that comforter up tight...
Wave goodbye to that old school bus
it won't see you home tonight...
Let your mama feel your forehead
pin on that flannel with the 'goop'
don't you worry 'bout your sandwich
but, please try your chicken soup...
cause it's filled with yummy veggies
and the noodles slide right down
lots of things that send a sore throat
on its way back to sick-town...
and before you know, it's over
and this day is at its end..
and you're back up with the family
feeling good and on the mend...
