Two cups all purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
2 sticks butter
1 cup strong brewed coffee or water
1/4 cup dark, unsweetened cocoa
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Frosting:
1 stick butter
2 tbsp. dark cocoa
1/4 cup milk
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and sugar.
In a heavy saucepan, combine butter, coffee or water and cocoa. Stir and heat to boiling. Pour boiling mixture over flour and sugar mixture. Add buttermilk, eggs, baking soda and vanilla. Mix well.
Pour into greased 17 1/2 x 11 jelly roll pan. Bake at 400º for 20 minutes or until brownies test done in the center.
While brownies are baking, prepare the frosting. In a saucepan, combine the butter, cocoa, and milk. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Mix in the powdered sugar and vanilla and stir until frosting is smooth. Pour warm frosting over brownies as soon as you take them out of the oven. Cool and cut into 48 bars.

I found this recipe years ago and it has become a favorite of the brownie lovers in the family. You can also heat the ingredients in the microwave instead of on the stovetop.
