One cup packed brown sugar
1 cup sugar
1 cup canola oil
2 sticks of margarine
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
4 cups flour
1 (12 ounce) package of semi sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup of pecans or walnuts

Preheat oven to 350º. Soften margarine in the microwave for about 30-60 seconds. Mix both sugars, egg, milk, margarine, vanilla, and oil together with mixer on medium speed until well blended. Combine flour, salt, cream of tartar, and baking soda in separate bowl. In small amounts add the flour mixture to the wet mixture, until a stiff dough forms. Add chocolate chips and nuts. Drop dough in golf ball size balls onto nonstick baking sheet 2 inches apart. Cook about 11-13 minutes or until cookies appear lightly golden.

This recipe makes a ton of dough so I like to make larger cookies. I usually can get 24 cookies out of this. This is Kris's grandmother's recipe, and these cookies literally melt in your mouth.
