2 Tbls butter or margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup dark or light molasses
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup whole what flour
1 cup all purpose flour
1tsp each salt and sode
1/2 tsp each ground ginger and cinnamon
1/2 cup raisins (optional

Directions:
Directions:
In the large bowl of an electric mixer beat the butter and sugar together until creamy. beat in egg. Stir in molasses and buttermilk then mix in the whole wheat flour. Sift all purpose flour with the salt, soda, ginger and cinnamon into the creamed mixture. Beat with the mixer at medium speed for about 2 minutes or until smooth and well blended. stir in raisins if used.
Spoon into a well greased loaf pan (one about 8-1/2 x 4-1/2 inches gives the best shape. Bake in a 350 degree oven until a pick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 60 minutes. Cool 10 minutes.
