6 quart basket green tomatoes
2 dozen small green apples or 1 dozen large apples
2 lbs onions
1 c coarse salt
1 quart white vinegar
4 tbsp. pickling spices
6 c brown sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cut all in small pieces, dissolve coarse salt in hot water. Mix with enough cold water to cover vegetables and soak overnight. Drain off water. Add 1 quart vinegar, pickling spices (tied in cotton bag). Bring to full boil and simmer one hour. Add brown sugar and cook 1/2 hour more. Fill jars to overflowing making sure no tomato seeds are on rims of jars.
