1 cup milk
1 or 2 squares unsweetened chocolate, cut up
(or 3-4 tsp. cocoa)
2 cups sugar
1 tsp. corn syrup
dash of salt
2 T. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup nuts, optional

Directions:
Directions:
In heavy saucepan, heat, over low heat, milk and chocolate. Heat until melted and mixture is smooth. Stir in sugar, corn syrup and salt. Cook gently, stirring from the bottom, occasionally, to 236º (soft ball stage). Remove from heat. Add butter. Cool without stirring to lukewarm. Add vanilla, beat until thick and no longer glossy. If desired, stir in 1 cup chopped nuts.

Recipe from Grandma Wagner. She says "This fudge is easy to handle and good (usually). You may knead it at the end, form into "logs", chill and slice."
