Directions:
Marinate steak in 1/2 c wine. This recipe is enough for 6 people. Type of wine to use: Burgundy, Claret - dry red wine. Baste often between layers. Season with garlic, salt and pepper and brown in 1 tbsp. butter each time. Keep saving the juice along with the wine for sauce. Put steak in Dutch oven or slow cooker and simmer while making the sauce. Bring all except wine to a boil and boil for 10 to 15 minutes stirring constantly. Add wine and pour gently over all layers of steak. Let simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or longer if using slow cooker checking to make sure it doesn't over cook. If you run out of liquid, add saved 1/2 c. You may also add another 1/2 c wine for last hour of cooking to spice up taste if necessary.
