1 Pkg. active dry yeast
1/3 cup sugar, divided
1/2 cup warm water (105 to 115 degrees)
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup boiling water
1egg,beaten
3 to 3-1/2 cup of A.P. flour

01 Dissolve the yeast and 1 tsp sugar in the warm water. Let stand about 5 minutes. Prepare a greased baking sheet

02 Combine remaining sugar, salt, butter and shortening in a large bowl. Add boiling water and stir until butter and shortening are melted. Cool slightly. Add dissolved yeast, stirring well.

03 Add egg and 1-1/2 cups of flour, beating at medium speed until smooth. Gradually stir in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough. Place in a bowl,, turning once to to grease the top. and let rise in a warm place, free from drafts, about 1 hour or double in bulk. Preheat oven to 375 F.

04 Punch dough down and turn onto a well floured surface. Knead several times. Shape into 2" balls and place onto the prepared baking sheet. Cover and let rise again in a warm place until doubled.

05 Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden. Serve
