2 packages yeast cakes
1/4 cup warm water
1/2 cup molasses
1/3 cup butter
1 3/4 cups beer
2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon caraway seed
3 cups rye flour
about 3 cups white flour
2 tablespoons melted butter

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in water. Put molasses and butter in pan and heat until butter melts. Stir in beer. Add dissolved yeast, salt and caraway seed. Add rye flour and mix well. Add white flour to make a soft dough.

Brush tops of dough with melted butter. Cover bowl and let rise until double about 2 hours. Punch down. Knead 8 minutes adding white flour as necessary. Shape into 2 loaves and put in buttered pans. Let rise until double. Bake at 350º oven for 35 to 45 minutes.
