Directions:PREHEAT OVEN TO 400 DEGREES.
SIFT FIRST FIVE INGREDIENTS INTO MED SIZED BOWL. CUT IN BUTTER, AS YOU WOULD IN A PIE CRUST, UNTIL PEA SIZE. ADD RAISINS.
IN SEPARATE BOWL, WHIP THE SOUR CREAM AND EGG TOGETHER.
MAKE A WELL IN THE DRY INGREDIENTS AND ADD THE EGG MIXTURE. MIX TOGETHER. AT THIS POINT YOU MIGHT AS WELL USE YOU HANDS TO WORK THE DOUGH INTO A ROUND BALL. ON A FLOURED SURFACE, FLATTEN INTO A DISC AND PAT OUT INTO A CIRCLE..ABOUT 8 OR 9 INCHES IN DIAMETER. CUT INTO 8 WEDGES AND PLACE ON PARCHMENT PAPER LINED COOKIE SHEET, SIDES NOT TOUCHING. SPRINKLE SPARINGLY WITH SUGAR (ABOUT I TSP TOTAL) AND BAKE UNTIL GOLDEN...ABOUT 16 MINUTES. COOL AND SERVE WARM OR ROOM TEMP. |

Notes: YOU CAN ADD DIFFERENT THINGS TO THIS DOUGH. INSTEAD OF RAISINS, ANY DICED DRIED FRUIT, NUTS, FLAVORINGS and HERBS. LIKE LEMON OR ANISE. I REALLY LIKE THESE TO GO WITH MY MORNING COFFEE. INSTEAD OF MAKING THE WEDGES,CAN CUT WITH A BISCUIT CUTTER. ALSO CAN DRIBBLE CONFECTIONER ICING OVER THE SCONES IF YOU WANT TO DRESS THEM UP. FOUND THIS RECIPE ON THE INTERNET. WHEN YOU FIRST START WORKING WITH DOUGH, IT WILL BE CRUMBLY BUT KEEP MASHING AND MIXING BY HAND UNTIL IT COMES TOGETHER. ENJOY.
