1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1/4 t. vanilla
1 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. baking soda
1/4 t. salt
3/4 c. quick rolled oats

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together brown sugar, shortening, egg and vanilla. Add flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt; mix well. Stir in rolled oats. Form dough into small balls. Dip top of balls into granulated sugar and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake @ 350º for 10-12 minutes. Yields 2 dozen cookies.
