4-5 cups flour
1 cup wheat germ
2 pkg. dry yeast
¼ cup sugar
1 T. salt
2 T. softened margarine or shortening
1 cup milk
1 cup water

Directions:
Directions:
Combine 1½ cups flour, wheat germ, undissolved yeast, sugar and salt in a large bowl. stir well to blend. Add margarine. Heat milk and water in a small saucepan til warm. Add warm liquids to ingredients in bowl, all at once. Beat with electric beater at medium speed for 2 minutes. Scrape bowl occasionally.. Add ½ cup more flour. Beat at high speed for 1 minute. Scrape bowl occasionally. Gradually, stir in just enough remaining flour with wooden spoon to make a soft dough. Turn out on floured board. Round up into a ball. Knead 5-10 minutes til smooth and elastic. Cover with plastic wrap, then a towel, and let rest for 20 minutes on board. Punch down. Divide into 2 equal portions. Make into 2 loaves. Place in greased bread pans. Brush with oil. Cover pans loosely with plastic wrap. Refrigerate 2 to 24 hours. When ready to bake, remove from refrigerator, uncover. Let stand for 10 minutes while preheating oven. Bake at 375º for 25 to 30 minutes. Brush with butter when done, if desired. Cool on racks.
