bottom layer:
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup sugar
5 Tbsp cocoa
1 egg, beaten
1 3/4 cup graham wafer crumbs
3/4 cup coconut
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

middle layer:
1/2 cup butter
3 Tbsp. milk
2 Tbsp. vanilla custard powder
2 cups icing sugar

top layer:
2/3 cup chocolate chips
2 Tbsp butter or margarine

Bottom Layer:
melt butter, sugar and cocoa in dipper. add beaten egg, and stir to cook and thicken. remove from heat. stir in crumbs, coconut and nuts (if using). press firmly into ungreased 9" pan.

Middle Layer:
cream together well until light and fluffy. Spread over bottom layer.

Top Layer:
melt chips and butter over low heat. cool. while still runny, spread over middle layer. chill in fridge. cut into squares**.
**note, will cut easier if you "score" the chocolate before it sets completely or let the quares sit at room temp for an hour before cutting.
** I really like the middle layer best so I usually double just the middle recipe
