2 pkgs. (16 squares) semiseet baking chocolate, divided
3/4 firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 c. butter or margarine
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla
1/2 c. flour
1/4 t. baking powder
2 c. chopped nuts, optional
Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Coarsely chop 1 pkg. (8 squares) of the chocolate - set aside. Microwave remaining 8 squares of chocolate in a large microwavable bowl on high for 1-2 minutes. Stir until chocolate is melted and smooth. Stir in sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour and baking powder. Stir in reserved chopped chocolate and nuts, if desired. Drop by 1/4 cupfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 12-13 minutes or until cookies are puffed and feel set to the touch. Cool on cookie sheet for 1 minute before removing. Makes 1½ dozen.
