8 tart apples, about 4 lb., peeled and sliced
2/3 c sugar
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/4 t. nutmeg
2 T lemon juice
2 T water
2 T butter



Crust:
1/2 firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c butter
1 c flour

Directions:
Directions:
Slice apples thin, should get about 12 cups. Put in 9" pie pan. Stir together sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over apples, mix to coat all slices. Dot with butter.

Crust: cream together brown sugar and butter, add flour. Sprinkle over top of apples. Bake at 350º for 45-50 minutes. Serve slightly warm with ice cream, whipped cream or cheddar cheese. If too hot, pie will be hard to cut.
