3/4 c + 6 T sugar
6 large egg yolks
3 T cornstarch
2 1/2 c whole milk
1 t. vanilla
46 vanilla wafers
3 bananas, sliced

2 large egg whites
1/4 t. cream of tartar

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 400º.
Whisk sugar, yolks and cornstarch until combined. Whisk in milk slowly and cook over medium heat until pudding boils and thickens, whisking constantly (about 10 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Arrange wafers in a 8" square glass dish to cover bottom and cover wafers with half of the banana slices. Pour half of pudding, repeat layer.
Beat egg whites with cream of tartar to soft peaks. Gradually beat in 6 T. sugar until stiff and glossy. Spoon onto pudding and bake about 10 minutes.
Cool and refrigerate (uncovered) until cold, 3 - 6 hours.
