1 cup flour
1 cup yellow cornmeal
¼ cup sugar
4 tsp baking powder
¾ tsp salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
¾ cup shortening

Directions:
Directions:
1. In large bowl, stir together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder and salt. 2. Add eggs, milk and shortening that has been melted. 3. Beat just until smooth. Pour into pan that has heated shortening in it. Will "sizzle" as you pour batter in pan. 4. Bake in a 425º oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

- corn stick pans or large iron skillet or 9x9 baking pan
- large mixing bowl

Hints:
- For crisp corn bread, heat oil in pan before adding mix.
- In a hurry, Use corn bread packages. Follow directions on package.
