Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 quarts hot water
2 1/2 cups pinhead oatmeal, or steelcut oats
2# ground meat of your choice. I use Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage (1 hot, 1 original), but you can use ground beef or pork, and Kris uses venison sometimes.
1 chopped onion
2 bay leaves, optional
2 cloves garlic, minced, optional
1 1/2 teaspoons @ salt and pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Place water and oatmeal in a crockpot on high. Cook 90 minutes.
Stir in meat and remaining ingredients and cook on low for several hours, until thoroughly cooked and very thick.

Divide into loaf pans, cool, cover and chill.

To serve, slice into 1” slices and fry in oil or bacon fat until brown and crispy outside..

Slices can be wrapped and frozen to use as needed.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
I bet you are thinking, “What is goetta?” (getta).
It is a Cincinnati regional dish with German roots....just like Todd Hazenfield.
It is a super heavy, and satisfying, stick to the ribs breakfast food.
