1/2 cup soft butter or margarine
1/2 cup shortening
1-1/2 cups molasses
2 eggs (sl beaten)
6-1/2 cups flour
1-1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
2-1/4 tsp ginger
2-1/4 tsp baking soda
1-1/2 tsp cloves
1-1/2 cups white sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, shortening and sugar, add eggs and molasses (I use blackstrap) Sift all dry and add to wet.
Roll into balls and roll in white sugar.
Bake 13 minutes at 350 degrees and look for when they start to crack on top.
Store in tight covered container with a slice of raw apple to keep soft.
