1 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon crushed Anise seed
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups sifted all purpose flour
Granulated sugar for rolling
Red and Green candied cherries

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, add sugar gradually, mix in anise seed, vanilla and salt. Blend in flour. Shape into
1 inch balls, roll in sugar. Place on greased cookie sheets. Flatten slightly with bottom of glass dipped in sugar. Decorate with cherries. Bake in electric oven 375 degrees 12 to 14 minutes.
Makes approximately 5 dozen.

This is my favorite Christmas cookie recipe. It comes out of the Wisconsin Electric Power Company
