1 c. dates
1 c. boiling water
1T butter
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 c. nuts (pecans)
¾ c. sugar
1 egg
2 c. flour
½ tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325. Combine 1st four ingredients and let stand to cool with cove over dish. Mix sugar and egg together well. Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Add alternately to date mixture. It will look crumbly. Coat nuts with a small amount of flour and add the nuts. Put in greased bread dish. Bake 325 for 1 hour.

The adults in our family like it more than the kids. It was Evan’s great grandmother’s recipe. This bread is best served warm with a shmear of butter.
