3 c flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 c cubed butter, and 1/4 c shortening
1¼ cup milk

Directions:
Preheat oven to 450º In a large bowl combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and cream of tartar. Cut in butter and shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well in the center, add milk all at once, mix until just moistened. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for 2 minutes, pat or roll dough to 3/4 inch thick. Cut dough with round cutter, place circles one inch apart on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake for 10-14 minutes, rotating sheet halfway through until golden brown.
