2 1/2 pkg yeast
1/2 c. warm water
1 c sugar
2 c milk, scalded and cooled
2 beaten eggs
2/3 c melted shortening
1 1/2 tsp vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg
1 1/2 Tbsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oil in a dutch oven to 350º dissolve yeast in warm water. Add to rest of ingredients and then add enough flour to make it easy to handle. Let rise 1 hour, punch down and let rise another 30 minutes. roll out to 1/2 inch thick and cut with a donut cutter. Fry and drain on paper towels. To glaze: add powdered sugar and hot water, butter and vanilla mix until smooth, glaze donuts hot.

These are crazy good. Don't preheat the oil until the dough has risen the second time.
