Ingredients:  
1. 4 large onions ( sliced )
2. 2 tbsp. butter
3. 1 tsp sugar
4. 2 qt. beef broth
5. 1/4 cup sherry
6. 2 sprigs fresh thyme
7. 1 1/2 tsp salt
8. pepper to taste
9. 1 cup croutons ( plain )
10. 8 oz. Swiss cheese ( sliced )

Directions:
Directions:
1. Place sliced onions , butter , sugar , and salt in the bottom of a 6-quart
slow cooker .
2. Cover and cook for 7 hours on high , or until onions are soft and brown .
3. Add beef broth , sherry , thyme sprigs , pepper to taste .
4. Cover and cook another hour on high .
5. Sprinkle croutons across the surface of the soup ,
add Swiss cheese and cook 15 mins. then serve .
