1 C. powdered sugar
1 C. butter, room temperature
2 tsp. maraschino cherry juice
1/2 tsp. almond extract
Red food coloring, just a few drops
2 1/4 C. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 C. maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
48 chocolate kisses, unwrapped

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350º
2. In large bowl, combine powdered sugar, butter, cherry juice, almond extract and food coloring; blend well.
3. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off.
4. Stir in flour and salt. Add cherries and mix well.
5. Form dough into 1-inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
6. Bake in preheated oven for 8 - 10 minutes or until lightly brown around edges.
7. Immmediately top each cookie with a chocolatte kiss. Remove from cookie sheets and cool.
