1 3/4 C. flour
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 stick butter
1 C. sugar (divided)
1/4 C. light brown sugar
1 large egg
1/3 C. cherry jam or preserves
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. pure almond extract
1 tsp. red food colorling
1/2 cup finely chopped semi-sweet chocolate (about 3 oz)
1/3 C. dried cherries, roughly chopped
1/2 C. confectioners sugar

Directions:

1. Mix flour, baking powder and salt in medium bowl.
2. Beat butter, 1/2 cup granulated sugar and brown sugar until creamy.
3. Beat in the egg, then beat in the extracts and food coloring. Beat in flour mixture until combined.
4. Fold in the chocolate and dried cherries.
5. Cover and refrigerate until firm - at least 1 hour.
6. Roll heaping Tablespoons of dough into balls, then roll each ball in the remaining granulated sugar and then the confectioners sugar.
7. Bake at 375º until cookies are cracked and dry on top, about 15 minutes.
8. Let cool 3 minutes on pans, then transfer.
