Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 Cups Unbleached All Purpose Flour
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1 Tablespoon Shortening

Directions:
Directions:
1. Sift together Flour, salt, and baking powder. Blend in the shortening using a pastry blender. Add just enough chicken broth to bring the dough together. Turn out the dough onto a well floured pastry board and knead until the dough is easy to roll. Use enough flour on the bottom and top so dough does not stick. Roll dough out to about ⅜ inch thick. Cut dough in strips about 2 in. x 1 in.

2. Drop dough pieces into boiling chicken broth and cook until tender, about 40 minutes. Stir occasionally and very carefully as to not bread the dumplings.

If desired you can add cooked chicken for Chicken and Dumplings. For Beef and dumplings, substitute Beef broth and cooked beef pieces.

Personal Notes:
This is one of Mom's favorite recipes. Relatively inexpensive, and a good "stick to your ribs" meal for an active family.
