Fried Cornbread Recipe

⅓ cup flour
⅔ cup cornmeal
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all of the dry ingredients in a bowl.

Melt shortening in a frying pan (about 1 inch deep).

Gently pour the boiling water a little at a time to the dry ingredients, mixing to reach a thick consistency similar to pie dough.

Dip your hands into cold water before forming oval patties (1 inch thick) from the dough and carefully slide into the hot grease. Fry the cornbread to a golden brown and drain on paper towels.
