2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/4 tsp baking powder
1 1/4 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup solid shortening
2 cups granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
3/4 cups cocoa
1/2 cup hot water
1 3/4 cups buttermilk

Preheat oven to 350º and grease/flour 2- 9 inch round baking pans. A 9x13 cake pan may also be used.

Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Set aside. In a large mixing bowl cream shortening and butter on medium speed with a mixer. Add sugar,vanilla and eggs and beat until light and fluffy. Add flour mixture and buttermilkto batter, alternating between the two.

Mix cocoa with ½ cup hot water (If too dry add additional tbs hot water). Add cocoa mixture to batter and blend well. Pour into prepared cake pan(s).

Bake 30 to 35 minutes for round pans and 45 minutes for 9x13 pan. Cool ten minutes and remove to racks to cool. Can be frosted with the Yummy Fudge Frosting.
