3 tbsp. olive oil
1 pound onions, diced
1 tsp. kosher salt, divided
1 ½ cups sour cream
¾ cup mayonnaise
¼ tsp. garlic powder
¼ tsp. white pepper, freshly ground

Directions:
Directions:
Saute onions in oil with ½ tsp. salt over medium heat, until golden brown (about 20 min.). Remove from heat and cool for about 15 min.

Combine the remaining ingredients (including the remaining ½ tsp. of salt) in a medium mixing bowl. Add the cooled onions and stir to combine.

Refrigerate for at least 1 hour and stir again before serving.

Can be made a day ahead (allowing even more time for the ingredients to marry). Assure that the dip is covered tightly so it doesn't take in flavors in the refrigerator.
