½ cup soft butter
½ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
½ cup brown sugar packed
1½ cups sifted flour
2 tbsp milk
¼ cup semisweet chocolate pieces, chopped
Sifted confectioners sugar


Chocolate Filling
¾ cup semisweet chocolate pieces
1 tbsp butter
2 tbsps white corn syrup
1 tbsp water
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

Preheat oven for 350º
Mix butter, salt, vanilla and brown sugar till light and fluffy. Blend in flour, milk and chocolate pieces. Shape into 1" balls, place on ungreased cookie sheet. With thumb make depression in each. Bake 10 - 12 minutes. Roll in confectioner sugar. Cool

Make filling.
Meanwhile over hot not boiling water, melt semisweet chocolate with butter stirring. Cool slightly, add corn syrup, water and vanilla. Heap this filling in centers of cookies.

Makes 36 cookies.
