French Toast Casserole Recipe

1 loaf French Bread or Challah or Brioche
8 eggs
2 cups milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup of sugar
1 t Tbsp vanilla
3/4 tsp salt

For the Topping:
1/2 cup flour
4 Tbsp butter, cubed
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cut bread into 1 inch cubes and scatter evenly in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a mixing bowl, beat eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla and salt. Pour evenly over bread. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight.

For the topping: mix flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt in a medium bowl; cut butter into this mixture until crumbly. Put topping in a zip lock bag and refrigerate overnight.
Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking.
Preheat oven to 350º.
Sprinkle topping evenly over the bread and bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Serve with pure maple syrup.

Note:
This should be soft on the bottom and crisp on the top.
