1 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs slightly beatne

2 cups rolled oats
2 cups applesauce
2 cups chopped nuts
1 cup raisins

3 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp nutmeg
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp salt

2 12-oz packages chocolate chips

Directions:

Cream first 3 ingredients. Mix in oats, applesauce, nuts and raisins.

Combine dry ingredients and add to mix.

Fold in chocolate chips

Drop on cookie sheet. Bake at 375 for 11 minutes.

Note: I find that adding small amounts of all ingredients to the creamed sugar/egg/butter makes it possible to get it all mixed in easily.

* Original recipe says this...I find I usually get a lot more. The picture shows 4 dozen made or on sheets and about 3/4 bowl of dough remains!!

this recipe came from a college roommate who said it was a family secret :) I've made this cookie every Christmas since 1970! They are quite filling so I make them small!
