2 c. sugar
2 c. corn syrup
3 c. whipping cream
½ can sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp salt
2 tsp anise
1 tsp black food coloring

Directions:
Directions:
Scald cream and sweetened condensed milk in double boiler or in large glass measuring cup or bowl. In another pan combine sugar and corn syrup, bring to a boil, stirring constantly. When sugar starts to change color, add scalded mixture, 1 T. at a time, never let it stop boiling. Boil to about 236ºF, remove from heat and add black food coloring and anise. Pour into buttered jelly roll pan.

One of our holiday favorites! Sometimes we make it a little harder, break it with the handle of a butter knife, and call it "coal" for the "naughty" girls and boys.
