This was always to be found in Mimi's refrigerator and she made it exactly like this. For pot lucks, I frequently make a tossed salad with mandarin oranges, crumbled bacon, and slivered almonds toasted-in-butter, and folks rave about this dressing.

I've had fun experimenting with it, using different types of oil (usually walnut - olive oil is good but coagulates when refrigerated) and vinegar (usually red wine). Smoked paprika is tasty, and sometimes I toss in additional ingredients (herbs, garlic, citrus juice, cilantro, even chipotle adobe sauce). Have fun!
