1 lb ground beef
½ cup chopped onion
¼ cup chopped green bell pepper
¼ cup celery
1 8-oz. can tomato sauce
¼ cup catsup
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp sugar
1½ tsp worchestershire sauce
salt & pepper
cornstarch, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Brown ground beef. Add onion, green pepper, and celery and cook about 3 minutes. Add tomato sauce, catsup, vinegar, sugar, worchestershire, salt, and pepper. Simmer at least 1 hour. Use cornstarch to thicken, if necessary.

I love Grandma's sloppy joes, and they were a big hit with the OHIO cheerleaders when we stopped by on our way to a football game at Kent. She was frequently called upon to make this for parties, and would bring small buns (they call them "slider" buns these days) because they were less sloppy to eat. If she was making them for a party, she would cook them in the electric roaster. For the record, I've never needed to thicken them with cornstarch.
