Ingredients:
Ingredients:
• 1 c butter, softened
• 1 ½ c sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 ½ tsp. vanilla
• ½ tsp. almond extract
• 2 Ύ c all purpose flour
• 2 tsp. baking powder
• 1 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400Ί.

In mixer bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg and extracts.

Mix dry ingredients separately and add gradually to creamed mixture.

If tinting the dough (like to make orange pumpkins or pink Easter eggs), this is the time to add food color.

Roll dough out on a floured surface to cut. Don’t roll too thin – it makes it hard to get them up and onto the baking pan intact. Somewhere between 1/8” and Ό” is about right. It helps to dip the cutter in flour periodically while cutting. I also dip the spatula I lift them with.

Bake on parchment lined pan for 6-7 minutes.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This is the best sugar cookie recipe I’ve ever tried. I got it from Wilton. They make cake decorating supplies, cookie cutters, etc. and know what they’re doing. That said, this recipe calls for unsalted butter but I think they taste like they need salt if I go that route and always use salted.
