1 3/8 c. shortening
3/4 c. buttermilk
3 c. white sugar
2 1/4 tsp soda (level) add soda to buttermilk
5 eggs
2 1/4 tsp baking powder
2 1/2 bananas mashed
3/4 tsp salt
4 1/2 c. flour
3/4 c. nuts

Frosting:
1 1/2 c. sugar
6 Heaping TBsp flour
Dash salt
4 c. milk
6 TBsp butter
2 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Beat shortening and sugar together. Then add eggs and beat together. Add mashed bananas and mix well. Stir in flour and add 2 1/4 tsp baking powder. Add flour mixture and milk alternately with other ingredients, mix well. Add nuts. Pour into 2 10" round cake pans (or 3 9" cake pans). I typically line cake pans with waxed paper. Bake for about 30 minutes at 350º.

For Frosting
Mix flour, salt and sugar well. Add milk, butter and vanilla and cook over medium heat until thick. Let cool. Frost cake and dust with chopped nuts.
