2 baking sheets, parchment paper

1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter
2 large eggs, beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract

2 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 c old fashioned rolled oats
1 1/2 c mixed morsels and nuts

350º oven.

combine the sugars and shortening in miser and beat on medium till blended

Add eggs and beat till blended; add vanilla and beat briefly

In a separate bowl, wisk together the flour, soda and salt. Add to the creamed mixture oon low to medium speed to blend

Add oats, beating till mixed into the dough

Add 1 1/2 c of morsels, nuts, dried fruit - your choice

Drop mounds onto parchment lined baking sheet with scooper. Bake 10-12 minutes, until cookies are golden brown.
