1 c. butter
1 c. water
2 c. all purpose flour
2 c. white sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. sour cream
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp almond extract (I have also used lemon and orange flavoring instead of almond)
1/4 tsp baking soda

FROSTING:
1/2 c. butter, cubed
1/4 c. milk
4 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar (powder sugar)
1/2 tsp almond extra (use the same as above)
1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans (when making the lemon or the orange, I do not use nuts)

Directions:
Directions:
In a large sauce pan, (or in the microwave), bring butter and water to just a boil. Immediately remove from the heat; stir in the flour, sugar, eggs, sour cream, salt, baking powder, extract, and baking soda until smooth.

Pour into a greased 15"X10"X1" baking pan. Bake at 375º for 18X22 minutes or until golden brown and a tooth pick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack for 20 minutes (in the pan).

For frosting, in a large saucepan (or in the microwave), bring butter and milk just to a boil. Immediately remove from the heat; stir in confectioners' (powder) sugar and extract. Stir in walnuts (if using); spread over warm cake. Cool completely.
