12 pecan or walnut halves
24 pitted whole dates
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 tbsp shortening
1 egg yolk
1/3 cup dairy sour cream
1 recipe Golden Frosting

Cut pecan or walnut halves length wise. Stuff dates with nuts; set aside.
In small bowl combine flour, baking powder & soda; set aside. In a mixer bowl beat brown sugar and shortening with an electric mixer on medium speed till combined. Add egg yolk and beat on medium speed until combined. Add flour mixture and sour cream alternately beating on low speed till combined. Stir in filled dates.

Drop dough by rounded teaspoon (1 date per cookie) onto a greased baking sheet. Bake in a 375º oven 7-9 minutes, or just until golden brown. Remove, cool. Frost with Golden Frosting. Makes 24 cookies.

Golden Frosting: In a medium saucepan, heat 2 tbsp butter over medium low heat about 10 minutes or until light brown. Gradually stir in 3/4 cup sifted powdered sugar and 1/8 tsp vanilla. (mixture will be crumbly) Gradually stir in enough milk to make a spreading consistency.
