1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 c. peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. sifted flour
1½ tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time, beat well after each addition. Beat in peanut butter and vanilla, blend well. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to creamed mixture. blend well. Shape into 1 inch balls. Place balls about 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Flatten with floured tines of fork. Bake in 400° oven 12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from sheets, cool on racks. makes 5 dozen.
