3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
½ c. shortening
4 tsp. baking powder
3 tsp. sugar
1 c. milk

Apples, slices
1½ c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

2 c. boiling water
¾ c. brown sugar
⅓ c. butter
dash of salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together first 6 ingredients and form dough. Separate & roll out like pie crust and cut in squares for individual dumplings.
In separate bowl mix together 1½ c. sugar & cinnamon.
On each dumpling place sliced apples and sprinkle 1 tsp. sugar cinnamon mix over apples.
Seal all edges of dumpling and place in greased pan.
In saucepan boil 2 c. water, brown sugar, butter & salt until brown sugar is dissolved & butter melted. Pour over apple dumplings and bake in oven at 350º until golden brown
