1/4 cup natural unsalted almond butter
1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp. coconut sugar
1/3 cup pure maple syrup
1/4 cup melted coconut oil
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. salt
2 flax eggs (2 tbsp. ground flax and 6 tbsp. water, whisk together and set for 15 minutes)
1/2 cup finely ground, blanched almond flour
3/4 cup vegan chocolate chips

Chocolate frosting:
1/4 cup natural, unsalted creamy almond butter
2 Tbsp. pure maple syrup
2 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tbsp. water

Preheat oven 325º Line an 8" square baking pan w/ parchment paper or greased foil. Set aside
In a medium bowl, whisk together almond butter, coconut sugar, maple syrup and coconut oil. Whisk until it resemble caramel.
Add cocoa powder in 1/4 cup increments, whisking until well mixed and thick like frosting. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as necessary. Whisk in vanilla, salt and flax eggs, until well incorporated. Using a rubber spatula, fold in almond flour until you get the consistency of soft dough or a very thick batter, and no flour patches remain.
Fold in chocolate chips. Pour batter into pan. Using the rubber spatula, smooth batter into an even layer.
Bake for 28-36 minutes. Cool for 2-3 hours. These must be completely cooled before frosting.
In a medium bowl, whisk together all of the frosting ingredients. Whisk until this mix thickens and resembles melty frosting. Life brownies out of the baking pan and set onto a baking sheet. Pour frosting over brownies. Using a rubber spatula spread the frosting into an even layer. Place in the freezer for 20-25 minutes to harden the frosting for easier slicing. Enjoy!

I have made these several times and they are the best, chocolaty brownie I have ever had. I did not make the frosting. I have read that the frosting will soak down into the brownie after a few days and they become even more fudgier brownies. These freeze well.
