Ingredients: |
Ingredients: 2- 10 oz. packages of Cocktail Sausages (quantity varies, depending on the size of your crowd. Each 10 oz. package serves about 5 people)
Catsup (just enough to cover the sausages in your slow cooker)
Brown Sugar (1/2 cup to 1 cup, depending on the # of sausages)
Diced Onions (1 medium )
1/4 C Bourbon (if desired) It adds a wonderful flavor, and the alcohol burns off as it cooks.
Optional: You can also add BBQ sauce, a drop of Worcestershire or Hot Sauce for a unique flavor.

Directions: Drain liquid from package, and place the cocktail sausages in your slow cooker.
Add just enough catsup to cover the sausages.
Add diced onions, brown sugar & bourbon and stir together with wooden spoon.
Cover, and cook on lowest setting for 8 to 12 hours, or when sausages are heated & cooked thoroughly.
When you are ready to serve, remove from slow cooker with a slotted spoon. Place sausages in a serving tray or bowl ( keeping warm if possible). Or just remove from slow cooker with a slotted spoon as desired. |

Notes: This allows for about 6 sausages for each guest. However, I find that these go quickly. So I double up on the amount I buy. It is easy to adjust the recipe. Also, I buy a miniature bottle of Jack Daniels only for the flavor. But for some church functions, I eliminate the bourbon, add a little BBQ sauce for heat, and call them "sober weenies". Enjoy!
