3½ cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 cup Crisco
2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
½ cup sour milk or buttermilk
1½ cups chopped pecans
8 oz. carton candied cherry halves
8 oz. pkg. cut dates

Directions:
Directions:
1. Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

2. Using a mixer, cream Crisco and brown sugar. Blend in eggs, Beat well.

3. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk. Begin and end with dry ingredients. Blend thoroughly after each addition.

4. Fold in pecans, cherry halves, and dates. Mix thoroughly.

5. Chill one hour for easy handling.

6. Drop rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes until light golden brown in a 400 degree oven.
