Ingredients:
Ingredients:
Cookies:
1 C. unsalted butter, melted
1 C. sugar
6 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
4 C. all purpose flour
1 C. milk

Frosting:
Anna's recipe calls for 2 C. of powdered sugar to 2 Tbsp. of milk, but I like the icing a bit thinner.
1 C. powdered sugar
2 Tbsp. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Combine dry ingredients together (except sugar). Add sugar and melted butter to a mixing bowl and beat until blended. Add flour mixture and milk alternatively until dough starts to get very thick. Use your hands to blend in the last of what remains. Roll small pinches of dough into tight balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 10 minutes (do not over-bake these cookies!). Let the cookies cool completely and then dip them in the frosting letting it pour down the sides as it sets. Store in an airtight containers. Makes 48 cookies.

Personal Notes:
This recipe was given to Anna by an Italian neighbor when I lived in Newington. Anna graciously shared this recipe with me, and has become a Holiday favorite.
