1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped bell pepper
¾ pound ground beef
2 (8 oz) cans tomato sauce
2 (12 oz) cans whole kernel corn, drained
1 small can of chopped right olives
1 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tsp chili powder
Dash of pepper
½ tsp cloves
1½ cups shredded cheese

Sauté onion and pepper in a large skillet. Add meat, break up and brown. Drain fat. Mix in next eight ingredients. Let simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. Sprinkle cheese over the top and let it melt. Serve with cornbread.

My favorite part of this recipe is that my mom (Christine Cox Keeler), thought cloves meant the spice, not garlic cloves when she was a newlywed. By the time she figured it out, she decided she liked it better this way and kept it the same ever since. This was one of my favorite meals growing up.
